These locknuts combine a free-spinning lock washer with a hex nut to allow for manual twisting into position, saving assembly time. To get the teeth to bite, use a wrench or socket to tighten the nut once it is against the surface of your material. These nuts are quicker to install than nylon-insert locknuts, but they can damage your material and are less vibration-resistant. You can reuse them as long as the washer remains intact. Also referred to as K-lock and Keps nuts.

These locknuts are almost half as robust as medium-strength steel nuts and are rated Grade 2, Class 6, or lower. In order to prevent thread stripping during installation, use them with screws that have a comparable strength grade.

The majority of machinery and equipment can be fastened with these Grade 5 or Class 8 nuts. Make sure your screw has a similar strength rating to prevent stripped threads during installation.
