These are taller and about 10% broader than regular flex-top nuts, which allows them to distribute bigger loads over a greater surface area. Unlike both distorted-thread and nylon-insert locknuts, the top part stretches to grasp the screw on all sides for a firmer hold. They are therefore appropriate for use in machinery that vibrates vigorously and continuously, such engines. Although these locknuts can be reused a few times, their holding capacity diminishes with each usage.
These locknuts, which are rated Class 10, Grade 8, or C, are around 25% stronger than medium-strength steel nuts. Make sure your screw has a similar strength rating to prevent stripped threads during installation.
These rust-resistant locknuts are ideal for outdoor and damp settings.
